Elderly Clients
Enduring Power of Attorney
No matter what your age there may come a time when making decisions about your financial affairs becomes difficult. You may require help writing cheques, managing your finances and making other arrangements for your care.
An Enduring Power of Attorney will enable you to appoint someone you trust to have legal responsibility to act on your behalf in this regard. Furthermore you will be able to make provisions concerning the extent of this responsibility and the date when it should come into effect.
Court of Protection
If you have an elderly or disabled relative or friend who has lost mental capacity and can no longer manage their property and affairs it may be necessary for an application to be made to the Court for a person to be appointed to be responsible for them. We can help you with the application process and can advise you about your responsibilities as a Receiver.
We can also help you with the preparation of Receivers accounts and annual tax returns.
Pamela Burt is a member of the Panel of External Receivers at the Public Guardianship Office and will be able to assist you.
Care Home and Funding Issues
If you or an elderly relative are considering residential or nursing care or are already in nursing care and anxious about funding and your rights, we have solicitors in our team who are members of Solicitors for the Elderly. This is a highly respected Association which specialises in these and other elderly client issues.
